Your baby is about 14 inches long and weighs around 2 pounds.
Your baby’s brain is really beginning to develop into a more complex organ. The amount of brain tissue will begin to increase during the 28th week. Your baby is also starting to look a little rounder as the fat storage continues to develop in preparation for living outside the womb. Eyebrows and Eyelashes have grown on the eyelids, and there are tiny teeth underneath the baby’s gums. The hair on your baby’s head continues to grow even longer.
The top of your uterus can now be felt significantly above your belly button, about 3 1⁄2 inches or more. Most likely your weight gain is between 17 and 24 pounds. During the last weeks of pregnancy your baby will gain a significant amount of weight.
Since you have entered the third trimester, you may find you will begin experiencing leg cramps, constipation, insomnia, and hemorrhoids.
As a result of pregnancy hormones, your skin may break out in acne. Certain medicines for acne are not suitable for use in pregnancy, so check with your GP before using any treatments. Try applying tea tree oil or witch hazel to a clean face before going to bed.
Being pregnant can affect your sex drive, as mums can feel tired or unattractive. You my also find that your partner is worried about hurting the baby. Sex is safe providing you haven’t had any complications with your pregnancy. You will find that some positions re more comfortable than others, such as lying side-by-side. If you feel uncomfortable, avoid penetration and simply be intimate and affectionate without full sex.
