Your baby is now approximately 12 inches long.
Your baby is now starting to fill out as more fat begins to form under the skin. Usually babies at this stage are more than 1 pound in weight.
If your baby has hair, the color and texture could be seen at this point. You hear of all sorts of ways to tell if you are having a boy or a girl, but these are just old wives’ tales. For example some will guess the sex of the baby based on how you are carrying the baby. If you are carrying low then it is a boy, and if you are carrying high it is a girl. The only two scientific ways to determine gender is by an ultrasound or amniocentesis.
Some pregnant women develop varicose veins, as hormones make their blood vessels widen and swell. Varicose veins often appear on the lower legs but can be found in other places such as the thighs. Try wearing support stockings to ease discomfort. Resting with your legs supported above the level of your heart may also help.
Your uterus is approximately the size of a soccer ball, and the top of your uterus can be felt about halfway between your belly button and the bottom of your sternum.
