Your baby is about 6 1⁄2 inches long and weighs 4 ounces.

By this stage your baby’s urinary system is working. As well as taking in fluids through the umbilical cord, which connects mother and baby, your baby will also be drinking in some of the amniotic fluid in which he or she is floating. The waste products go back into the amniotic fluid as urine. Your baby’s sense of hearing is also developing now that the ears have fully formed and moved into their final position.

Your baby is also beginning to form adipose or fat tissue. This will help him take on a more normal appearance. Fat is important in helping regulate the body’s temperature and metabolism.
Your breasts will be getting bigger as your pregnancy progresses and your nipples will become darker. You may notice a creamy white discharge from your nipples, as your body prepares for motherhood and gets ready to make milk for your baby. You’re likely to go up a few bra sizes during pregnancy.

Your immune system, which fights illnesses, is also under more pressure during pregnancy. Avoid people who have colds or flu and If you do catch a cold, avoid taking any unnecessary medicines. Drink plenty of fluids and eat fresh fruit and vegetables containing vitamin C. Paracetamol is one of the safer options for pain relief during pregnancy.

The top of your uterus is beginning to appear more rounded and is lengthening. Your uterus will begin pushing your intestines up and out towards the side of your abdomen. Most women find it easier to feel their uterus when they are standing.
